The perceptual gateway — CI engages touch, proprioception, vestibular sense, hearing, and peripheral vision, drawing on a far richer sensory palette than everyday life. In CI, the usual hierarchy of the senses is reversed: touch and proprioception receive higher weighting than vision. The senses need warming up just as much as muscles do.
